I want my Euroreo!

Go to Europe, and you get wonderful architecture, beautiful landscapes, and a rich history. So why does Europe also get the better Oreo cookie? Read the following article from Newsweek, Corporate Cookies by Gersh Kuntzman.

Make sure to visit the Ban Trans Fat site, which has very clear information on trans fats, and a page dedicated to their lawsuit against Kraft Foods, specifically "The Oreo."

Also read The Murky World of High Fructose Corn Syrup. HFCS, another American killer, can be found in breads, soups, cereals, cured meats, hot dogs, lunch meat, salad dressings, spaghetti sauce, crackers, mayonnaise, peanut butter, pickles, frozen pizza, canned fruits and vegetables, and tomato juice, just to name a few popular products.

Bottom line, don't let big business continue to profit off the poisoning of you and your family. Read your labels! And just say no to trans fats and HFCS!

DEAD WRONG

Programming Note: ‘Dead Wrong’ — Inside an Intelligence Meltdown” airs Sunday at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET on CNN.

(CNN) — A former top aide to Colin Powell says his involvement in the former secretary of state’s presentation to the United Nations on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction was “the lowest point” in his life.

“I wish I had not been involved in it,” says Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, a longtime Powell adviser who served as his chief of staff from 2002 through 2005. “I look back on it, and I still say it was the lowest point in my life.”

Wilkerson is one of several insiders interviewed for the CNN Presents documentary “Dead Wrong — Inside an Intelligence Meltdown.” The program, which airs Sunday at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET, pieces together the events leading up to the mistaken WMD intelligence that was presented to the public. A presidential commission that investigated the pre-war WMD intelligence found much of it to be “dead wrong.”

Republicans on the War

Thanks to http://www.dailykos.com for rounding up the following statements made by republicans in reference to the war.

-------------------------------------

"You can support the troops but not the president." --Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years." --Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" --Sean Hannity, Fox News,

"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy." --Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy." --Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area." --Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today" --Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." --Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

-------------------------------------

But folks, these comments were made in regards to Clinton and his committing troops to Bosnia, an international effort. It's amazing how much their tune changes when a little oil's involved. Can you say "cha-ching."

Is Rush Limbaugh on Drugs? Oh yah...

With a loyal listenership of almost 15 million people, Rush Limbaugh's word is considered by many in this country to be the truth. That's why, in protest of a most egregious lie he spouted recently on his daily radio show, I have started a petition asking that he publicly apologize to Cindy Sheehan, mother of Army Spc. Casey Sheehan.

Per Rush, "Her [Cindy Sheehan] story is nothing more than forged documents. There's nothing about it that's real, including the mainstream media's glomming onto it. It's not real. It's nothing more than an attempt. It's the latest effort made by the coordinated left.”

As a mother, I find this statement so hurtful and so insulting not only to Cindy, a grieving mother, but also the memory of her first-born son, Casey.

Please join me in the signing of this petition by visiting the link below.

*CARLY'S POEM*

A Nation Rocked to sleep

by Carly Sheehan
Brother Casey KIA 04/04/04
Sadr City, Baghdad

Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?
The torrential rains of a mother's weeping will never be done
They call him a hero, you should be glad that he's one, but
Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?

Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?
He must be brave because his boy died for another man's lies
The only grief he allows himself are long, deep sighs
Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?

Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother's grave?
They say that he died so that the flag will continue to wave
But I believe he died because they had oil to save
Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother's grave?

Have you ever heard the sound of a nation being rocked to sleep?
The leaders want to keep you numb so the pain won't be so deep
But if we the people let them continue another mother will weep
Have you ever heard the sound of a nation being rocked to sleep?

----------------------------

So poignant.

Visit Cindy (mother of Carly and Casey) Sheehan's site Gold Star Families for Peace, and hear about her vigil outside the Bush family compound in Crawford, Texas. My prayers are with you, Cindy.
