Don't Forget the Animals

After watching the Hurricane Katrina coverage for days, what broke my heart as much as seeing the children affected by the devastation, was the images of the animals separated from or abandoned by their owners. Did you know that many rescue services -- both bus and helicopter -- will not take people AND their pets? This has forced many people to leave their beloved pets behind. After searching on the internet, I found the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), an animal protection organization that is going into the heart of flooded New Orleans to rescue pets -- including dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, and a pot-bellied pig.

I made my donation a few days ago and am posting this information so you can do the same.

Please visit the IFAW website and see the good work they're doing. Then, please forward the information to all the animal lovers you know.
